Our Pastor & First Lady
Pastor Larry L. Broxton, the biological son of the late Pastor Pete and the late Sis. Bertha Broxton, and the spiritual son of First Union Baptist Church, was born in Savannah, GA. He was educated in the Chatham County Public School System, and is a 1968 graduate of Tompkins High School. He attended Savannah State College (now University) and is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation as a Manufacturing Engineer (Tool Design Section) before retiring in March, 1997, after 25 years of service.
On the fifth Sunday of January 1988, Brother Broxton was called into the Gospel Ministry and preached his first sermon entitled, “The Word, The World, and You”, using 1 John 2:15-18 as his text. After three years of “doing the work of an evangelist”, Minister Broxton was called into the Pastoral Office at Christ Memorial Baptist Church in May of 1991, where he still shepherds the “Holy Ghost Filled, Fire Baptized” flock. He is a former member of Savannah’s Clergymen In Action Group.
He is married to the former Sis. Gwendolyn Williams, who is a member of the Ministerial Staff, the Praise and Worship Team, Women Of The Light Ministry, and Mission Ministry at Christ Memorial. They have two adult sons and one granddaughter.
